Radisson Blu Le Metropolitan Hôtel
10 Place de Mexico
Paris, France
Neighborhood: 16th Arr. (Trocadero/Bois de Boulogne)
Style: Modern Design
Atmosphere: Lively
48 Rooms
Of some of the Radisson Blu hotels the best you can say is that, for a big business chain, they’re remarkably stylish and surprisingly individual. To say that of the Radisson Blu Le Metropolitan, however, would be understating the case by a considerable distance. This is a hotel that will have you checking the stationery in disbelief — if, that is, you can tear your eyes from the ridiculously postcard-perfect in-room views of the Eiffel Tower.
With a mere 48 rooms in a crisp and clean contemporary style, it looks as though it could be a case of style over substance. But this is where its luxury-hotel heritage shows through: the rooms, for the most part, are as well-equipped as you’d like (though not all have tubs). And it’s the rare small boutique that can boast a restaurant helmed by a Ducasse protégé, much less a lounge with a view of the Eiffel Tower and not just a full-service spa but an indoor swimming pool as well.
In any town, with any view, the Metropolitan’s mix of boutique-hotel good looks and high-end luxury comforts would be a winning combination — in Paris, where you’re generally forced to accept at least one of cramped, frilly or minimally serviced, it’s downright revelatory.
