Rachamankha

6 Rachamankha 9, Phra Singh

Chiang Mai, Thailand

Style: Contemporary Classic

Atmosphere: Quiet

24 Rooms

The Rachamankha may have a semi-urban Chiang Mai address, but the serene boutique hotel feels miles away from the colorful chaos of northern Thailand’s largest city. The peace and quiet is partly due to the architectural design — the main building is modeled after a chapel of the Wat Phra That Lampang Luang temple — and partly due to the hotel’s edge-of-town location, where unwanted wake-up calls are more likely to come from crowing roosters than honking bus horns.

An elegant tone is set by the hotel’s Lanna-style architecture, which is at turns ornate and minimalist, and the interiors follow suit. Spacious, gracefully illuminated public spaces are outfitted with plush white and chocolate-brown furnishings and accented by unique details like exotic orchids, hand-carved doors, Chinese antiques, and striking artworks from Laos. Guest rooms, which face out onto the red and white bougainvillea-filled courtyard garden, also blend the simple and unusual.

Comforting luxuries and Asian-inspired features, like bamboo blinds and reed mats, set the stage for more remarkable amenities like Chinese porcelain sinks, Lanna lanterns, and Burmese artworks. Airy second-level deluxe suites offer four-poster beds and roomy baths.

Thai-focused fusion cuisine is served on traditional Chinese plates at the Rachamankha’s restaurant. Internet access is available in the pretty library, cocktails either poolside or at the lithograph-laden bar. Many of the city’s main attractions can be reached quickly by taxi, and a nearby night market, known for bright lights and adventurous street cuisine, is just a leisurely stroll away from the hotel.

How to get there:
Rachamankha is located within the old city walls of Chiang Mai, approximately 70 meters from the south west corner of Phra Singh Temple. It is approximately 10 minutes from the airport by car. Please contact customerservice@tablethotels.com for assistance with airport transfers.
