Sister to the Pulitzer in Barcelona, the Buenos Aires version bears a pretty distinct family resemblance. With a bit over a hundred rooms it’s on the large side for a boutique, but on the small side for a business hotel. And though it’s a new build, and decidedly modern in aspect, its monochromatic palette and understated contemporary lines give it a look that’s not so very far from that of its Art Deco relation.

Like quite a lot of other things in Buenos Aires, the Pulitzer wears its European influence on its sleeve. Some rooms come with Parisian-style balconies, and the fixtures and fittings throughout are impeccably designed. There are, however, a couple of extras that seem tailored to South America, namely the open-air sky bar and the eighth-floor pool deck.

The location, in the city’s Microcentro, is itself a revelation: just when we were beginning to worry that Palermo Soho was the only place to stay, here’s a hotel that’s convenient to the financial district as well as many of the traditional sights of the capital. And the hotel itself is something of a revelation as well, proof that BA’s boutique scene scales up beyond a dozen or two rooms.

Please note:
The pool is currently closed and will be open for the next summer season.
