It’s been an instant fashion-world favorite, for obvious reasons, but the appeal needn’t end there — if you’re the sort of person who loves what’s good about a good hotel, and hates what’s bad about a bad one, then you’ll no doubt be charmed by the Hôtel Thoumieux. That might be oversimplifying things just a bit, but not by much — on a scenic Parisian street facing the Eiffel Tower, in an intimate little fifteen-room boutique bearing the inimitable stamp of hotelier Thierry Costes and designer India Mahdavi, there’s precious little to find fault with.
There’s the décor, instantly, recognizably rooted in historical Parisian design yet always with a light, witty touch; there’s the hospitality, offering the personal connection that only the smallest hotels can provide; and there’s the cuisine, courtesy of a restaurant and brasserie by the highly regarded Jean-François Piège (who’ll serve, on request, a chef’s tasting menu for six to eight, at a table in his personal library).
The rooms dispense with minimalism entirely, turning the volume on the prints and patterns up to eleven — and augmenting them with some well-chosen comforts, from the in-room iPads to the Aesop bath products to the breakfast service, with housemade yogurt and preserves. As a classic Parisian boutique — that is to say, sans restaurant — it’d be well worth a look, but with Jean-François Piège on board it’s an absolute must.

What I liked:
the interior decor was nice, though room was very small
What the hotel could do better:
the hotel recpetion knew we only had one day left. we asked them what time the museum de orsey was going to open on monday. she told us she would check and call us back. she then informed us it opened at 10am. We walked for twenty minutes only to find out that it was closed on mondays. we were very upset. so unproffessional.
