Sometimes it seems as though the supply is unlimited. Another South Beach Art Deco classic, this time the old Palmer House, is reborn as a modern boutique hotel. This one, the Dream South Beach, is proof that in hotels, as in much of life, there’s something to be said for focusing one’s ambitions. The Dream leaves the extreme pampering to the big resorts and homes in on its biggest strengths: namely a vibrant nightlife centered on its extremely in-demand public spaces.
Not to mention its rooms; though it’s an overused adjective in design circles, to call these rooms sexy is simply to state the facts. Art Deco is just a starting point for spaces that are distinctly Seventies-inspired, a look with a distinct pleasure-palace vibe about it. And while space is at a bit of a premium, the Dream is for travelers who don’t mind getting close with their companions.
It’s in a prime location, on Collins Avenue just around the block from Versace’s mansion, a low-rise neighborhood that affords the Dream’s roof terrace an impressive view. This, ultimately, is the Dream’s focus, a rooftop pool deck that’s a sunbathing scene by day, just plain scene by night — expect the guest list to read like a who’s who of American celebrity culture.

What I liked:
I loved this place. Rooms are small, but the interior design is fabulous. Loved the split bathroom and glass door design. The staff is really nice and helpful. The restaurant is really good. The pool area and pool staff were awesome. I enjoyed my stay here and would not hesitate to stay here again.
What the hotel could do better:
The closed window with black out shade made the room feel a bit closed in.

The rooftop was great, but the furniture was a bit dirty and worn.

The service was very unresponsive, slow and not very helpful. (We had to drag our own bags out to the rental car in the pouring rain as three staffers stood inside and watched)

The staff were excellent, especially Thomas on concierge who arranged an evening event for me on his day off, also the female pool attendant was extremely helpful and professional
